Dual Track Admissions Starting from 2025 Admissions, HKUST School of Engineering (SENG) is implementing the Dual Track Admissions Framework. If you wish to explore different engineering disciplines and respective AI applications, you should choose the School-based Admissions Track and opt for Engineering with an Extended Major in AI when applying, before declaring your major(s) at the end of Year 1. If you have a clear idea about what major or engineering field you would like to pursue, choose the Department-based Admissions Track and start working toward your goal right from the beginning.

No matter which track you choose, you will learn the fundamentals through introductory courses. At the end of the first year, you will make an informed choice of the discipline you will be studying at SENG for the next three years. The broad-based, student-centered curriculum allows you to take up additional major programs, minor programs, or dual degree programs involving both engineering and non-engineering areas. Students who transfer a substantial amount of credits at the time of admission may be able to graduate in less than four years.
