The first of its kind in Hong Kong, the Extended Major framework allows students to combine a degree in engineering with additional study in emerging topics.
DIGITAL MEDIA AND CREATIVE ARTS This extended major aims to equip students with technical skills to apply the latest computing and media technologies to the creation of digital media and arts, such as computer games, animation, wireless and mobile media, etc. At the end of their first year of study, students may choose to apply for the Extended Major in Digital Media and Creative Arts. ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE The AI curriculum covers a number of cross-disciplinary components beyond technical skills, such as design thinking, ethics, etc. The AI knowledge can be directly applied to your major engineering field such as Civil Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, etc., and be an asset to your career development. There is no study period extension and no extra tuition fees apply. Students who have a clear interest in AI are encouraged to apply through the School-based Admissions track “Engineering with an Extended Major in AI.” Those who gain entry via Department-based Admissions (except CSE and CPEG) have the option to add the Extended Major in AI at the end of their first year.
Computer Engineering focuses on the analysis, design, implementation, and utilization of computer systems from embedded microprocessors and notebook/desktop computers to supercomputers, as well as how they are integrated with other systems to meet the challenges of real-world applications. It bridges the gap between computer science and electronic engineering and offers students balanced training in both hardware and software skills by taking full advantage of the human resources and laboratory facilities of both the Department of Computer Science & Engineering and the Department of Electronic & Computer Engineering. It’s a well-integrated 2-in-1 program! BEng in COMPUTER ENGINEERING
