School of Engineering

MAE

The Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (MAE) offers two undergraduate programs: BEng in Mechanical Engineering and BEng in Aerospace Engineering. Both programs aim to equip our students with the fundamental knowledge and practical skills required for a successful engineering career. Our programs foster self-directed learning, designed to produce holistically educated professionals who can not only tackle scientific and technical challenges but also think critically and adapt to a rapidly changing world. MAE graduates are well-prepared to either enter the job market as competent mechanical/aerospace engineers or pursue advanced studies at the postgraduate level. At MAE, we are committed to shaping the next generation of innovative engineers who will drive progress in our field and make meaningful contributions to society. Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering

BEng in AEROSPACE ENGINEERING The Aerospace Engineering program offers a comprehensive education in aircraft design, aerodynamics, materials, propulsion, avionics, and more. Students master both foundational principles and cutting-edge developments in sustainable aviation and emerging technologies, with emphasis on hands-on laboratories (e.g. the Aerodynamics & Acoustics Facility) and industry-relevant skills. Graduates excel in diverse roles across the aerospace sector, from aircraft design and development to flight test engineering and avionics integration. The aerospace industry’s robust growth, driven by sustainable aviation initiatives, space exploration projects, and urban air mobility, offers exceptional career opportunities for our graduates.

BEng in MECHANICAL ENGINEERING The Mechanical Engineering program follows a structured three-stage approach. The first stage establishes a strong foundation in core engineering principles. The second stage combines advanced theoretical knowledge with hands-on laboratories and exposure to emerging technologies. In the final stage, students integrate engineering science with practical applications via industrial placements and team projects. Students can tailor their education by specializing in energy systems, mechanical design, advanced materials, or research. This versatile preparation enables graduates to excel in diverse roles, from design and project management to research and development in industries such as building services, transportation, green energy, and smart manufacturing. The program also provides an excellent foundation for those pursuing advanced degrees and research careers.
