Graduate from high school; AND one of the qualifications recognized by HKUST Some of the major qualifications: American Pattern (SAT / ACT / AP) (i) SAT total score of 1,190 or above; OR ACT (in one sitting) with composite score of 24 or above; AND American College Board Advanced Placement (AP) in two subjects, each with a score of 3 or above; OR (ii) American College Board Advanced Placement (AP) in five subjects, each with a score of 4 or above.
Senior level Mathematics, AND one senior level subject from Physics, Chemistry, Biology, or Computer Science

Students with a strong interest in these programs are encouraged to apply for direct admission to the departments respectively. ** Applicants without any of the preferred subject(s) will still be considered as long as they meet the Subject Requirements. ▲ Students admitted through School-based Admissions are required to drop the Extended Major in Artificial Intelligence, if they enroll in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) or BEng in Computer Engineering Program (CPEG).

International Qualifications 2026 Admissions
A wide range of scholarships and admissions schemes are in place to recognize distinguished academic success and noteworthy non-academic achievements. High-achieving students – including medalists and students with top entrance exam scores – may qualify for extra scholarship support from the School of Engineering, on top of the University’s award.
Admissions Scholarship # Scholarships are awarded to outstanding students from all academic backgrounds including IB Diploma, GCEAL / IAL, Advanced Placement (AP), and others. No separate application is required.

Other Qualifications # Scholarships are also awarded to top students with other qualifications based on academic merit. Applicants are considered for these scholarships holistically, based on their profiles. No separate application is required.
